Welcome
This guide walks you through the Parent (Enrollment) Portal from the first login to activating your child’s subscription. The goal is simple: make it easy for you to understand what happens when, why it matters, and how to avoid common mistakes.
How the process works (big picture)
You receive a portal link (usually after a live event). You create a parent profile and add your child or children. After this step, you'll have complimentary access to complete a MAP diagnostic in the 4Core subjects: Math, Science, English, and Language Arts.
Those diagnostics generate a Learning Plan that highlights strengths and gaps. You then book a 45-minute call with a Program Advisor to align on fit and next steps. Finally, you complete onboarding in the portal: acknowledge consents and set up billing via EduPaid in your Dashboard.
Before you begin
Devices and setup. Plan to use a computer with reliable internet. Tablets and phones are not supported for diagnostic testing. Choose a quiet area with minimal distractions. Keep scratch paper and a pencil handy for math.
Time expectations. Creating your profile and adding a learner takes just a few minutes. Diagnostics take about 30–45 minutes per subject, and most families spread them across a few days. If a test took less than 15 minutes, the student probably rushed through it. Retesting is not offered, but is usually not required as all results are confirmed after enrollment through a longer process.
Mindset. The diagnostics are not graded. They are a snapshot to help us suggest the right starting points. Accuracy matters more than speed.
Step 1: Create your parent profile (about 2 minutes)
After you receive your portal link, create your account using your email address and basic contact information. When you finish, you will land in your Dashboard. If you do not see the Dashboard, refresh your browser or sign in again using the same email.
Training note: Use an email you check frequently. All confirmations, scheduling links, and Learning Plan notifications will go there.
Step 2: Add your child (about 2 minutes per child)
Go to Learner Profiles and select “Add Learner.” Enter your child’s full name, birthday, and current grade level. Repeat for each child.
Parent note: The birthday and grade help the diagnostic choose an appropriate starting range. Accurate entries lead to better placement. It is possible that the test will determine a different grade level for your child. This is not an error and cannot be adjusted. The NWEA which administers the test uses their own grade level calculation and uses these for consistent comparisons.
Step 3: Complete the diagnostics for each subject
You’ll see four subjects available: Math, Reading, Language, and Science. Each subject typically takes 30–45 minutes. Students can pause between subjects and complete them over several days.
Parent note: One subject per day is ideal, but you may do more. Fatigue lowers accuracy and can push placements too low or too high. A calm environment and no outside help produce the best results. Think of this like a measuring tool—not a high-stakes exam.
We provide diagnostic access and the Learning Plan as part of the process so families can make informed decisions. There is no obligation to enroll.
Step 4: Review your Learning Plan
When diagnostics are complete, the portal generates a Learning Plan. It summarizes strengths, highlights knowledge gaps, and suggests starting points. You can keep this report whether or not you decide to enroll.
Parent note: Focus first on what the plan says about foundations. Strong foundations shorten the time to mastery and reduce frustration later.
Step 5: Book your Program Advisor call (required to continue)
Schedule your call in the portal at a time that works for you. Parents attend; students are welcome but not required.
What happens on the call:
We’ll translate your child’s diagnostic results into plain language, discuss how daily life works in Alpha Anywhere, talk through tech and schedule, and answer your specific questions. This step ensures we’re a fit and that you’re clear on how the program works for your family.
Parent note: Bring your Learning Plan and any concerns you want to cover. The goal is clarity, not a sales pitch.
Step 6: Complete onboarding—consents and billing (EduPaid)
After your call, return to your Dashboard. Acknowledge the required consents. Then open EduPaid from the Dashboard to set up billing. If your state offers ESA support and you qualify, you’ll see instructions in EduPaid.
Important: Adding a payment method does not activate enrollment by itself. You must still purchase the program in the Marketplace for each child you are enrolling.
Parent note: Think of EduPaid as the wallet. The Marketplace is where you actually select and purchase the Alpha Anywhere subscription for each learner.
After you enroll
You will receive student login credentials and a short set of next steps. We recommend attending a live student onboarding session (typically Mondays and Wednesdays). These quick sessions help students learn how to start and finish a day, where to get help, and how to navigate.
Training note: A strong first week sets the tone. Encourage your child to ask questions early and often.
FAQs
How long do we have to finish the diagnostics?
There is no hard expiration, but we recommend completing within a month so the Learning Plan stays current. There is a 2-month maximum timeframe between taking the tests and your preferred starting date.
Can my child take more than one subject in a day?
Yes, but consider 2 per day as a maximum to yield more accurate results.
Do these tests produce grades?
No. The Learning Plan focuses on skills and suggested starting points rather than letter grades.
Is the advisor call optional?
No. It is required so we can align on fit, set expectations, and answer your questions.
Which devices are supported for testing?
Use a computer with reliable internet. Tablets and phones are not supported for diagnostics.
How do ESA payments work?
If your state is supported, EduPaid will display clear steps in your Dashboard. You’ll follow those instructions to connect ESA funds.
Why can I see my card in EduPaid but I’m not enrolled yet?
You still need to purchase the program for each child in the Marketplace. Think “fund it” first, then “buy it.”
Troubleshooting
I did not receive my verification email.
Check spam and promotions. If needed, click “Resend” in the portal. Verification links expire, so use the most recent one.
I added a learner, but diagnostics aren’t visible.
Confirm the child’s birthday and grade are correct. Refresh your Dashboard or try another browser.
A test froze or won’t load.
Close the test window, refresh the portal, and relaunch. Check your connection and temporarily disable browser extensions. If you're still having trouble, you can send a short email to us here: [email protected].
I can’t find a call time that works.
New time slots open regularly. Check back later the same day or the next morning.
One last training tip
If something feels unclear, pause and check the Dashboard first. Most next steps live there, and completing one tile often unlocks the next.
