AlphaNumbers

Math fact fluency practice: what it is, how to log in, and how to track progress.

What AlphaNumbers Is

AlphaNumbers is Alpha Anywhere's math fact fluency tool. It builds speed and confidence with basic math facts: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. The goal is to make these automatic so your child can focus on harder math. It is assigned to every Alpha Anywhere student.

For a quick overview of how it works, this short video walks through AlphaNumbers.

How to Log In

  1. Open StudyReel and go to Dash.

  2. Find AlphaNumbers in the Fast Math section. It will appear as FastMath Pro.

  3. Click "Sign in with Timeback SSO" using your child's @2hourlearning account.

That's it. No separate account creation is needed.

First Time Setup

The first time your child logs in, they will take short placement tests (about 2 minutes each). These determine which math facts your child already knows and which ones they need to practice. Based on the results, the app assigns a starting Learning Track, which is the grade level they will work on.

You do not need to configure anything. The app handles placement automatically.

The Daily Routine

After the initial placement, the daily routine is straightforward:

  1. A short assessment (about 2 minutes) at the start of each session. This checks current fluency and determines if your child is ready to advance to the next track.

  2. Practice on math facts. Your child will work through different stages: learning new facts, practicing for accuracy (without a timer), and then practicing for speed (with a timer). The app manages the progression automatically.

Recommended daily practice: At least 10 minutes per day, split into short sessions. Several short daily sessions are more effective than one long session.

Earning XP

Your child earns XP in AlphaNumbers by:

  • Maintaining above 80% accuracy

  • Hitting 100% accuracy earns bonus XP

1 XP = 1 minute of practice at 80% or higher accuracy.

How to Check Progress

AlphaNumbers tracks your child's progress inside the app. On the home page, your child can see:

Progress Grid: Shows the mastery status of each math fact on their current Learning Track. Facts move through stages: Not Started, Learning, Accuracy, Fluency, and Mastered. This makes it easy to see which facts are solid and which ones still need work.

Speed Score: Shows your child's current speed score on their Learning Track, how it compares to their last test, and how many more points they need to reach their fluency target for that track.

XP Progress: Shows daily XP earned based on practice time and accuracy.

Estimated Time to Complete: Shows how close your child is to finishing their current Learning Track.

How Your Child Advances

Each Learning Track has a Speed Score target that measures how quickly and correctly your child can answer math facts. Once they hit the target in their daily assessment, they are considered fluent in that operation and move to the next track.

Your child does not need to get 90% on the assessment to pass. They need to meet the fluency speed score target for their track. The app handles advancement automatically.

After Completing All Courses

Once your child has mastered all four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division), they are not done with AlphaNumbers. They can now choose which operations to continue practicing.

Using the sidebar menu on the left, your child can scroll through the available operations and select the one they want to work on. This lets them target specific areas where they want to maintain or sharpen their fluency.

The format stays the same as before:

  1. Assessment first. Your child takes a short assessment for the operation they chose. The assessment prioritizes the math facts where their speed score (CQPM) is lowest, so practice is focused where it matters most.

  2. Then practice. After the assessment, they move into the practice section as usual.

Your child can take one assessment per operation, so they are free to switch between operations and work on different areas in the same session.

What You Will (and Won't) See in Dash

AlphaNumbers does not show in daily activity rings. Your child does not earn Alphas for AlphaNumbers. This is intentional. All progress tracking happens inside the AlphaNumbers app itself.

Having Trouble?

Can't log in

Make sure you are clicking "Sign in with Timeback SSO" from the Fast Math section in Dash. If the login still fails, contact the Parent Experience Team.

AlphaNumbers work is not showing up in Dash

This is expected. AlphaNumbers tracks its own progress internally rather than sending it to Dash. Your child's work is being saved inside the app.

Your child is not earning Alphas for AlphaNumbers

AlphaNumbers is not an Alpha-earning activity. XP is tracked inside AlphaNumbers separately.
