This article covers what to do if your child runs into a problem while taking a MAP Growth test.
For general information about how testing works, see "MAP Growth Testing: What It Is, When It Happens & What Your Child Should Expect." For help understanding scores after testing, see "Understanding Your Child's MAP Growth Results."
The test isn't showing up in Dash.
A few things to check:
MAP tests appear under "My MAP Test" in the left sidebar of Dash, not under My Required Learning.
Tests become available each day at 4 AM US Central Time. If it is earlier than that, the test may not have been loaded yet.
If the test still does not appear, it may simply not be scheduled for today's subject. Check which subject is assigned for today. The testing schedule is sent by email before each window opens.
If none of those apply and the test is still missing, contact the Parent Experience Team.
My child got kicked out / the test froze / the page refreshed mid-test.
This is the most common technical issue during MAP testing. The good news is that previously answered questions are saved, so your child will not need to start over. Here is what to do:
Close StudyReel completely. Do not just close the window. Fully quit the application.
Reopen StudyReel and log back into Dash.
Go to the My MAP Test section.
Click the orange button that says "Can't see my name on the dropdown." This restarts the session and should bring your child's name back into the list.
Select your child's name and continue the test from where they left off.
If the test does not resume or continues to freeze, contact the Parent Experience Team.
Something unexpected happened after my child finished.
If your child completed the test but something seemed off afterward, such as an accidental button click, an error message, or a screen that looked unexpected, contact the Parent Experience Team. We can check whether the test was submitted successfully and let you know if anything else is needed.
The proctor never released the test / my child was stuck in the waiting room.
MAP Growth tests are proctored remotely, and occasionally there can be a short delay before the proctor releases the test. If your child has been waiting more than 15 minutes:
Exit the test and try logging back in using the steps in the freeze/disconnect section above.
If the issue continues, contact the Parent Experience Team so they can escalate to the technical team.
We are in a different time zone / outside the US.
Tests become available at 4 AM US Central Time each day and remain available for the full day once they open. If you are in a significantly different time zone, plan your child's testing time accordingly.
General Rule
If anything happens during testing that you are not sure how to handle, contact the Parent Experience Team at [email protected] before taking any further action. We can check the status of your child's test and advise on next steps.
