Installing StudyReel

How to install the core software you'll need to get rolling with AlphaAnywhere

Updated yesterday

What is StudyReel?

StudyReel is the application your child will use to manage their daily academic tasks. Installation is straightforward, and we've provided both written instructions and a video walkthrough to support you.

Important: StudyReel works on Mac and Windows only. It will not work on a Chromebook or iPad.

Step 1: Open the install Guide

Click here to go to the detailed guide which will walk you through every step to install StudyReel on a Mac or a Windows machine. Remember, this install will not work on a Chromebook or an iPad.

Step 2: Watch the install Video

It was a direct-to-TV movie, but we’re still proud of it. If the installation guide was too long, you can watch the steps as a video here. 🎥

Screen Recording Permissions

This screen will ask you for permission for all three, but Alpha Anywhere only uses one permission here. The computer does not use the audio or the camera for passive data collection in Alpha Anywhere. This is a school-only feature. You’ll still be asked to accept on this screen, but these two features will not engage while using the platform.

When your Mac or PC asks for permissions to be granted after the install is complete, you’ll need to make sure to accept these to allow the program to view and capture the screen. (similar to other programs that screen clip).

Good to Know

  • Multiple computers: StudyReel can be installed on more than one computer, but only run one instance at a time. Running it on multiple devices simultaneously may cause data sync issues.

  • Dedicated learning computer: Not required, but recommended. A dedicated machine minimizes distractions and creates a consistent learning environment.

  • Data collection: Recording happens only while StudyReel is running. When the application is closed, no data collection occurs. Only screen activity is recorded.
