Earning Alphas

How your child earns and loses Alphas: XP rewards, Win the Day, Win the Week, streak bonuses, test payouts, and academic honesty penalties.

Alphas are Alpha Anywhere's virtual currency. Students earn them through academic work and can spend or save them in Alpha Bank. This article covers exactly how Alphas are earned, how they can be lost, and how much each activity is worth.

Ways to Earn

XP Rewards

Students earn Alphas from the XP they earn in their learning apps. XPs are the progress metric.

Activity

Alphas Earned

Every 10 XP earned

  • Counts toward the daily target.

  • Including XP from tests.

1 Alpha

  • Writing only: 10 max/week

Streak Bonus

Streak multipliers are applied after the student accumulates 5+ streak days in a row.

  • To earn a streak day, your child needs to show up in every subject that has a goal that day: at least 10 minutes of learning in it, or any XP at all. Either one counts.

  • Only subjects with a goal that day count as a required subject. A subject with no goal that day can't be missed.

  • Note: Filling the daily ring is a separate thing. The streak only asks that they work in every subject to encourage all subjects every day.

  • If they don’t earn a streak day at the end of the weekday, a shield will be used to protect their streak. If they didn’t have any shields, they lose the streak.

  • Students earn a shield every 4 streak days. Shields can also be bought. They are never auto-purchased to protect a streak.

  • Only learning days set in your learning calendar count for streaks.

  • Writing - AlphaWrite earnings are not eligible for streak bonuses, and AphaWrite does not count as an earned subject for a streak.

Win the Day

XS Bronze Win the Day Chest

When a student hits their level's daily goal, they win the day and get that day's Win the Day chest of Alphas. The chest grows with each level, but is a random amount each day.

Bonus chests

At Bronze, Silver, and Gold, winning the day opens a bonus ring: the next level’s goal. Each bonus ring your child closes pays another chest, the same size as their Win the Day chest. A Bronze child can earn up to 3 bonus chests in a day, a Silver child 2, and a Gold child 1. Each chest is collected on its own after the Win the Day chest. See Levels: your child’s daily goal for how bonus rings work.

Streak multipliers do not apply to the Win the Day, bonus chests, or Win the Week chest.

For each level's daily goal and how students move between levels, see Levels: your child's daily goal.

Win the Week

Win the Week is the prize for Diamond, the level above Platinum, whose goal is the whole week instead of a single day, and earns an extra-large prize. Only subjects with a goal that week count, and writing doesn't count.

Goal

Alphas Earned

Halfway chest: fill the week’s ring halfway (300 XP in a full week; each subject counts only up to its own weekly goal)

A chest worth 30% of the Win the Week chest, once a week

Win the Week: hit the weekly XP goal in every subject

Mystery Alpha prize (XL) + 1 streak shield

Short weeks pay less. Both chests shrink with fewer learning days, the same way the weekly goal does.

Test Rewards

Test XP counts toward the daily XP target and earns per-XP Alphas normally, in addition to the flat bonuses below

Ways to Lose Alphas

Academic Dishonesty

Students lose Alphas for academic dishonesty, which includes:

  • Searching for answers online

  • Using AI tools to generate, find, or select answers

  • Using calculators or AI tools unless they are explicitly allowed

For full details on academic honesty expectations and consequences, see Academic Honesty at Alpha Anywhere.

What Happens Next: Alpha Bank

Once earned, Alphas appear as pending deposits in Alpha Bank. Students allocate them between checking and savings, earn interest, and spend them in the shop. For a full walkthrough, see Using Alpha Bank: Deposits, Savings & Rewards.

Interest

Students can deposit Alphas into a Savings account in Alpha Bank. Alphas in savings earn weekly compounding interest. For details on how savings and interest work, see Using Alpha Bank.

Spending

Students can spend their Alphas in the Alpha Bank store to redeem for prizes and incentives, including gift cards (processed within 1–2 business days) and special rewards tied to MAP Growth performance.
