eGumpp is the primary grammar and editing program for grades 7 and 9, building meticulous skills across four modules: Grammar, Usage, Punctuation & Capitalization, and Writing Mechanics. Each of its 42 lessons pairs a short video and overview with graded practice, and your child needs 90% or higher to get credit before moving on. After each module comes a Mastery Test.
How to log in
Apps in TimeBack log in automatically as standard. If the automatic login doesn't work, follow the steps below.
You can sign in with a username and password rather than single sign-on. TimeBack holds the credentials, ready to copy and paste into the eGumpp app.
Get your credentials from TimeBack: Sign in to TimeBack and open eGumpp on your “Home.” - Your eGumpp username and password are shown there to copy.
Log in to eGumpp: Go to the eGumpp website and paste in the username and password from TimeBack.
Open Module 1: Click “Open Module 1.” The four modules are completed in order.
Start the first lesson: Open the top lesson and work its parts in order. You need 90% or higher on each lesson to get credit.
How a lesson works
Work the four modules in order: Grammar, Usage, Punctuation & Capitalization, then Writing Mechanics.
Inside a module, open the top lesson and complete its parts in order: video, overview, tutorial and reinforcer, then the graded Practice to Mastery.
Score 90%+ to get credit - completed lessons show a green check mark.
After all lessons in a module are done, take the Module Mastery Test - three attempts to earn the best score.
Work through all four modules: 42 lessons and 4 Mastery Tests in total.

How XP works
Your child earns XP by completing lessons at more than 90% accuracy, a higher bar than the usual 80%.
Each lesson is worth 21 – 46 XP, depending on the lesson.
One rule worth knowing: only retakes on a different day earn XP; repeating the same lesson the same day won't add more, so if a lesson needs another try, come back to it the next day.

The bar is high: 90%+ on every lesson and Mastery Test. Finishing all 42 lessons and 4 tests at 90%+ earns the Mastery level of eGumpp certification, shown on the Certification page. Steady, in-order work, one module at a time, is what gets there.

Work one module at a time, in order. Don't jump around.
Always watch the lesson video and read the overview; taking notes helps.
Use the tutorials; they show exactly how to do the activity.
Aim for 90%+ before moving on; if short, review every part before re-attempting.
Take your time and answer thoughtfully.
Checking your Progress
The best place to check your eGumpp progress is your student dashboard, but you can also use eGumpp to see the work you have completed.
Check each lesson to see which ones you have completed (scored 90%+).
To see how many completed lessons you have, simply log into your account and click into each module.
How to tell it's working
Steady progress earned during focused minutes is the sign it's working. Lots of time but little progress usually means distraction or skipping the videos and tutorials; low time and low progress usually means rushing.

How do the Module Mastery Tests work?
After a module's lessons are done, your child takes its Mastery Test - three attempts
for the best score. Four modules, four tests.
Can my child skip ahead or work several modules at once?
No. eGumpp is sequential and completion-based. One module at a time, 90%+ per lesson. Skipping around is the most common reason progress stalls.
Got an email from eGumpp about a “student portal”?
You can safely ignore it. All of your child's eGumpp work is done through TimeBack, get the username and password there and log in.
