Lalilo is an adaptive, mastery-based program that builds the foundations of reading and language - phonics, decoding, and early comprehension - for early learners.
It starts with a placement test to build a personalized plan, then delivers lessons that pair short instruction with practice, adjusting difficulty and adding prerequisite skills whenever your child needs more support.
How to log in
Apps in TimeBack log in automatically as standard. If the automatic login doesn't work, follow the steps below.
You can use a one-time login code, which will show on the screen right before the app opens, ready to copy and paste in.
Open TimeBack: Sign in to TimeBack with your child's student email and find the “Language - Lalilo” course on your “Home.”
Click Jump In: Open the "Language - Lalilo" course and click Jump In. A login code appears just before the app launches.
Log in with the code: Copy the code, then paste it into the Lalilo login page.
Press play: Lalilo opens on your child's home screen. Tap the play icon to begin; the placement test the first time, then the next lesson after that.
The first session: a placement test
The very first time your child opens Lalilo, the play icon starts a placement test; two parts, 30 questions in all.
It checks phonics, phonemic awareness, decoding, and comprehension to build a personalized learning plan.
Your child should take it on their own, without help, it only sets where to begin, so there's no need to worry about the score.
If they miss the spoken instructions, they can tap “Repeat Audio” in the top-right corner.
How a lesson works
From the home screen, your child taps the play icon to begin the next lesson.
Each lesson starts with instruction; the concept is explained with a few guided examples.
Then comes practice: anywhere from 9 to 30 questions, depending on grade level.
Earning a badge means the lesson is complete; scoring 80% or better earns its XP.
If a skill is tricky, Lalilo automatically adds the prerequisite skills first, then brings your child back to it.

Replay the instructions whenever unsure - tap the speaker to hear them again.

Where do I find the login code?
TimeBack shows the code on screen right before the app launches. Open the Lalilo course, click Start Activity, copy the code, and paste it into the Lalilo login page.
What is the test my child sees the first time?
That's the one-time placement test; two parts, 30 questions, checking phonics, decoding, and comprehension to build a personalized plan. Your child should do it alone, without help; it only sets the starting point, so the score doesn't need to be perfect.
My child finished a lesson but didn't earn XP
A lesson earns its XP once it's completed with at least 80% accuracy. Below that, the skill isn't mastered yet; Lalilo will have your child keep practicing it, and may add prerequisite skills first, until it sticks.
My child can't hear or understand the instructions
Every activity's instructions are spoken aloud. Tap the speaker or “Repeat Audio” to replay them as often as needed, and check the device isn't muted.
How do I see how far along my child is?
Count the badges - one per completed lesson - or open the Lalilo dashboard for the full picture. Total XP in TimeBack also shows how far through the plan they are.
