Logging in
Most login issues tend to results from a parent or student attempting a login method other than what we describe in the "Logging in" help center article for AlphaRead.
Be sure you are:
Using your child's email address. This will end with 2hourlearning.com or alpha.school
Using the "Login with Google" method.
Not tracking student work
If your child is completing articles in AlphaRead but they are not being tracked back on Dash, please double check the following:
You are logged into StudyReel and performing the work from within StudyReel. (not from a browser like Chrome or Safari). Work is only tracked when you're inside StudyReel and see the blue border around the monitor. You should also notice you're working inside a window with the wedges on the left that looks like this:
You are logged into the correct student account. Sometimes, families with siblings may accidentally log into the siblings AlphaRead account. In this case, Dash could be logged into 1 child and AlphaRead the other. Please 2X check that the same account is being used in each system.
Reading content is too hard or too easy
We continuously monitor each student's reading accuracy to keep their performance within the 80-90% range. Interestingly, parents report content feeling "too hard" far more often than "too easy"—roughly 9 to 1. If you're experiencing this, it's usually not actually about difficulty level but rather about adjustment factors:
Common reasons for the "too hard" feeling:
Building focus stamina: Reading two articles daily at an appropriate challenge level may be a new mental muscle your child is developing, and that effort can feel difficult even when the content itself is properly matched.
Adapting to the 80-90% target: This calibration challenges everyone differently. Kids used to getting 100% aren't accustomed to missing questions, while kids who've experienced lower scores may not yet recognize they're now succeeding at a much higher rate.
Question-by-question variation: Some questions require more nuance than others, so complaints about difficulty may be question-specific rather than systemic. This is normal—the app aims for a difficulty range, not a single target number.
The system will automatically address students working too far below 80%, but if you feel something needs attention sooner, please reach out. We're happy to review your child's performance and help troubleshoot any concerns.
Issue with article content
We've taken deliberate steps to ensure all AlphaRead content is age-appropriate and neutral. We're committed to keeping the app free from topics that parents should introduce on their own timeline. Subjects like sexuality, controversial social issues, or personal health matters remain exclusively in your hands as the parent or guardian.
That said, we recognize that even with careful curation, some content may not align perfectly with every family's specific beliefs or values. Whether it's material included to meet educational standards or simply a topic you'd prefer to handle differently, we want to hear from you.
If you encounter an article with an error or content that concerns you, please send a screenshot to [email protected]. While we can't guarantee every requested change, we genuinely value your feedback and take parent input seriously as we continue refining AlphaRead.
