What IXL Is and Why Your Child Uses It
IXL is where your child practices specific skills in math, language arts, science, and other core subjects. It adjusts the difficulty based on how your child answers. If they struggle, it slows down. If they succeed, it pushes forward. Your child uses it because it builds mastery of skills through repetition and correction. It is assigned to every student.
Why IXL Setup Is Different
You must create your own IXL Family account. Other learning apps are created for you; IXL is not. IXL requires a parent-managed subscription. Without it, your child cannot access assigned work. This is an IXL platform requirement, not a program preference.
About the $1,000 IXL Credit
IXL requires families to hold their own subscription directly with IXL. This is how their platform works, and it is not something we can bundle into your Alpha Anywhere account the way we do with other apps. To offset that cost, your Alpha Anywhere account includes a $1,000 credit per child. You pay IXL directly, but that cost is covered by the credit applied to each of your children's Alpha Anywhere accounts. At roughly $25 per month, the credit covers approximately three to four years.
Set Up Your IXL Account
Go to the IXL Family signup page using the official instructions provided to you.
Create your IXL Family account using your own parent email and password.
Please ensure you enroll with the IXL US version of the software.
If you are inside the USA β This is the default option. No action is needed.
If you are outside the USA β You will need to change the flag to the US flag. This can be noted by a small US flag in the top right side of the main screen.
Log out of any other IXL account that is open.
Log back in using your Family account email and password.

Log In to IXL the Correct Way
Open StudyReel (Dash).
Click the assigned IXL lesson.
When prompted, enter your IXL Family account email and password.
Start the skill.
Do not go to ixl.com directly for assigned work. Most common failure: You open IXL in a separate browser tab. Work does not record in Dash.
If that happens:
Close IXL.
Reopen Dash (inside StudyReel).
Launch the lesson again from inside StudyReel.
There is no way to recover progress completed outside StudyReel.
How Progress Is Recorded and How SmartScore Works
Progress is recorded only when IXL is launched through StudyReel. If your child logs in directly at ixl.com, the work will not appear in Dash and cannot be added later. If progress is missing, check the login path first.
Each IXL skill has a score called SmartScore. For a lesson to count as mastered, your child's SmartScore needs to reach 100.
SmartScore is not a percentage of questions answered correctly. It is IXL's way of confirming your child truly knows the skill. Correct answers raise it. Incorrect answers lower it, sometimes by more than you would expect. Your child might answer most questions right and still not be at 100 yet. If they are close, encourage them to slow down, read carefully, and finish the skill rather than exiting early. For a full explanation of how SmartScore works, see IXL's guide here: link
Common Issues
My child finished IXL, but nothing shows in Dash.
Open StudyReel (Dash).
Click the assigned IXL lesson.
Log in using your IXL Family email and password.
Complete one skill and check Dash again.
If the lesson was started from ixl.com directly, it will not sync. That work cannot be recovered.
If you launched from Dash and it still does not record, contact support immediately and state: βI launched IXL from StudyReel and progress did not sync.β
IXL marked the correct answer as wrong.
Double-check formatting. IXL is strict about rounding, units, spacing, and answer format.
Try the problem again carefully.
If the answer is clearly correct and still marked wrong, take a screenshot of the question and the entered answer.
We already had an IXL account before joining.
Keep using your existing account. Just make sure every session starts inside StudyReel, not directly on ixl.com. The login location matters more than the account itself.
When to Contact Support
Progress does not sync after launching from Dash, inside StudyReel.
Answers are consistently graded incorrectly, and you have screenshots.
