Getting started with Anton: Access, Troubleshooting, and FAQs

ANTON is a supporting reading and language app for grades K–2, a large question bank used for extra scaffolding and gap-filling on specific skills. Alpha only enrolls a child in ANTON when they need it, so it isn't something every student uses.

How to log in

Apps in TimeBack log in automatically as standard. If the automatic login doesn't work, follow the steps below.

  1. Open TimeBack - Log in with the student's email, then find ANTON under the “Home” tab.

  2. Click Jump In - A login code appears just before the app launches.

  3. Log in with the code - On the ANTON login screen, choose “Log in with code,” then paste it in.

How a lesson works

  1. ANTON opens on your child's personalized skill plan, the specific scaffolding or gap-filling lessons they've been assigned.

  2. Work top to bottom: complete each activity in a lesson before moving to the next.

  3. Click the top non-mastered activity to begin, a voice explains what's needed at the start of every activity.

  4. If the instructions are unclear, click the speaker icon to hear them again.

How XP works

Each activity earns XP once your child completes it with at least 2.5 stars, and a full lesson needs 80% accuracy overall. Once an activity has earned its XP, repeating it after mastery won't earn more, there's no benefit to redoing finished work.

How your child advances

Your child has completed their ANTON gap-filling work once every skill in their personalized plan is mastered at 80% or higher accuracy. Because plans are assigned only where needed, progress here is specific, it shows a gap closing, not a subject moving forward on its own.

Habits that lead to success

  • Listen closely at the start of every activity, a voice explains what's needed.

  • Repeat the instructions if unsure, click the speaker to hear them again.

  • Take your time, stay focused, and think about every answer, patience pays off.

  • Don't skip the instructional content or explanations, that's where the information needed for the activity comes from.

How to tell it's working

Steady XP earned with focused minutes is the sign. If minutes are high but XP is low, your child may be distracted or guessing, a reminder to slow down and listen to instructions usually helps. If both minutes and XP are low, they're likely rushing or not fully engaging, worth a quick check-in.

Common Issues | FAQs

Where do I find ANTON's login code?

In TimeBack, open ANTON under the “Home” tab, click Jump In, and the code appears right before the app launches. On the ANTON login page, choose “Log in with code” and paste it in.

Why is my child only assigned certain lessons?

ANTON is scaffolding and gap-filling, not a core course, your child is enrolled only in the specific skills they need extra support on, not the whole app.

My child finished an activity but it didn't earn XP

An activity needs at least 2.5 stars to earn XP. And once an activity has already earned its XP through mastery, redoing it won't earn more.

I can't find my child's progress screen

It's on the ANTON home screen. If they've navigated away, click “groups” then “content” to get back.

When is ANTON considered complete?

When every skill in your child's personalized plan is mastered at 80% or higher accuracy.
